FAQ: Before- & After-School Care

  • A. The program currently serves 310 students. The capacity for the next academic year has not been determined. The program provides care at each elementary school.
    Enrollment determination: If space is constrained, available subsidized spots will be assigned first. Full-cost spots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis depending on space available at that site and grade level.
     

  • A. An online application will be available on the district website at this link. The application will open on February 6 at 12 noon

  • A. The aftercare application is not site-specific. You must apply before you know your child's site placement. We will work with the enrollment team to place students at their school site.

  • A. Applications will open at this link at 12 noon on February 6, 2026.

  • A. Families will be notified by June 30, 2026 if they were accepted into the program or if the program is unable to serve them.
     

  • A. You will need to register every year. If your child currently attends, a letter will be sent out in the spring asking if you plan on returning. Be sure to let us know if you will be returning.

  • A. Yes, once you apply your child will automatically be placed on the waiting list. We will let families know if we are unable to serve them.

  • A. Yes, it is recommended, as many programs fill up quickly. Here is a link to private care options that serve AUSD. You can enroll in onsite childcare on the Albany USD website at this link.

  • A. Each site has a program that is supervised by the Albany Unified School District through the Albany Children’s Center. These programs have different classroom names, but are essentially the same program. In addition, there are several private pay options at each site.

  • A. Free play, breakfast, and art activities are offered.

  • A. The student-to-teacher ratio is:
    1 adult for every 14 children for grades 1-5.
    1 adult for every 12 children in TK and Kindergarten.

  • A. The fees are based on hours of care. Here is this year’s fee schedule. Please note fees are subject to change.

  • A. You can do one or the other, or both.

  • A. There are private care options as well as ACC (AUSD Child Care).
