Dear Albany Community,

Ocean View Elementary had a wonderful Fall Festival last Saturday. This PTA fundraiser is their biggest event of the year, featuring the Walkathon in the adjoining Ocean View Park. One of the student participants is pictured above, with his parent and teacher Hanna Miller, who was counting the laps students completed for their pledges. Kids and adults enjoyed carnival games, food, a huge inflated obstacle course and being outdoors on a beautiful day with their school community. PTA events like the Fall Festival not only fund all sorts of extras at school, they build our connections with one another. Connect with your school’s PTA/PTSA and find out all the things they are doing for students!


Superintendent Transition

On Wednesday, it was announced that Ms. Sara Stone will be joining AUSD as the new, permanent Superintendent. I am so pleased that the Board of Education has made this excellent choice! Ms. Stone is a gifted educational leader and a person of impeccable integrity. I will continue as the Interim Superintendent until Ms. Stone starts on December 1, and will remain available to ensure the District continues to run smoothly during the transition. You can be confident that Albany Unified will be in good hands.


Make Plans To Vote

I want to encourage everyone to vote in the upcoming election. There are four candidates running for the two available seats on the Board of Education. The Board sets the direction and goals for the District and oversees the budget, so these Board positions are truly important. The District also has a school bond measure on  this ballot, Measure L, which would not raise the tax rate but would extend the duration of the current tax rate to achieve funding for school facility projects. 


Halloween Is Next Thursday

Ghosts, witches, superheroes, and a huge variety of creatures will be visible at Albany schools on Halloween, which is next Thursday, October 31. The elementary parades are a joy to watch, and I hope that many of you can attend. At AMS, the 6th Grade Halloween Party is a beloved, if scary, tradition. Note that Halloween is not an early release day, students will be released at the regular time of 1:30pm for TK and Kindergarten, 3:05pm for 1st–5th grade, and 2:00pm for 6th graders. Please see school communications for information about Halloween parades and parties.

Festival de otoño de Ocean View, transición del superintendente, haga planes para votar y Halloween

 

Estimada comunidad de Albany:

El sábado pasado, la escuela primaria Ocean View celebró un maravilloso festival de otoño. Esta recaudación de fondos de la PTA es el evento más importante del año y cuenta con una caminata en el parque Ocean View contiguo. En la foto de arriba se ve a uno de los estudiantes participantes, con su madre y maestra Hanna Miller, que contaba las vueltas que completaban los estudiantes para cumplir con sus promesas. Los niños y los adultos disfrutaron de juegos de feria, comida, una enorme pista de obstáculos inflable y de estar al aire libre en un hermoso día con su comunidad escolar. Los eventos de la PTA como el Festival de otoño no solo financian todo tipo de actividades extra en la escuela, sino que también fortalecen nuestras conexiones entre nosotros. ¡Conéctese con la PTA/PTSA de su escuela y descubra todo lo que están haciendo por los estudiantes!

 

Transición del superintendente

El miércoles se anunció que la Sra. Sara Stone se unirá a AUSD como la nueva superintendente permanente . ¡Estoy muy contenta de que la Junta de Educación haya tomado esta excelente decisión! La Sra. Stone es una líder educativa talentosa y una persona de integridad impecable. Continuaré como superintendente interina hasta que la Sra. Stone comience el 1 de diciembre y seguiré disponible para asegurar que el Distrito continúe funcionando sin problemas durante la transición. Puede estar seguro de que Albany Unified estará en buenas manos.


Haga planes para votar

Quiero animar a todo el mundo a votar en las próximas elecciones. Hay cuatro candidatos que se presentan para los dos puestos disponibles en la Junta de Educación. La Junta establece la dirección y los objetivos del Distrito y supervisa el presupuesto, por lo que estos puestos en la Junta son verdaderamente importantes. El Distrito también tiene una medida de emisión de bonos escolares en esta boleta, la Medida L , que no aumentaría la tasa impositiva, pero ampliaría la duración de la tasa impositiva actual para lograr la financiación de proyectos de instalaciones escolares.


Halloween es el próximo jueves

Fantasmas, brujas, superhéroes y una gran variedad de criaturas estarán visibles en las escuelas de Albany en Halloween, que es el próximo jueves 31 de octubre. Los desfiles de primaria son un placer para ver, y espero que muchos de ustedes puedan asistir. En AMS, la fiesta de Halloween de sexto grado es una tradición querida, aunque aterradora. Tenga en cuenta que Halloween no es un día de salida temprana, los estudiantes saldrán a la hora habitual de 1:30 p. m. para TK y Kindergarten, 3:05 p. m. para 1.º a 5.º grado y 2:00 p. m. para los estudiantes de sexto grado. 院長過渡

प्रिय अल्बानी समुदाय,
